Spiritual Blindness

8/18/2017

There are those who do the works in the temple but do not recognize the Lord of the temple, the Lord of worship, and the Lord of mission. Obviously, that is spiritual blindness. Spiritual blindness is taking the central place of God.

Before we say that the Pharisees (in John 9) were terrible people of God, let us examine and re-examine ourselves in relation to our life and work in our church today. Is Jesus right at the center of worship and mission and ministry in our church? Are the purposes of God, also the real purposes of the church and each one of us?

We are spiritually blind if we insist on our own purposes instead of the purposes of God. We are spiritually blind if we make ourselves as the center of our spiritual life. If we insist on what we want and not what God wants. Just like the Pharisees (in John 9), we still don’t get it.
