Crucifixion and resurrection, death and life, despair and hope, slavery and freedom, falling and rising, hate and love, darkness and light, Friday and Sunday are all connected. You don’t appreciate the positive one without the other.
On Friday as recorded in Matthew 27, the soldiers stripped off Jesus’ clothes, made a crown out of thorn branches and placed it on his head, made fun of him and shouted, “Hey, you king of the Jews!” Then they spit on him, and beat him on the head with a stick. They made him carry a heavy cross up to a mountain called Golgottha. They nailed him to that cross. He died. But on the third day, God raised him up and will never die again. The grace of resurrection is also upon us. By faith in Jesus, we will also be raised and will have eternal life.
